CHC50113 DIPLOMA IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE

 

 

This qualification is for people who wish to take on a leadership role in an early childhood service and has a strong emphasis on the advocacy for the rights of children; the development of strong relationships, effective workplace processes; inclusive, respectful and responsive workplace culture; and a curriculum which focuses on the needs of a child and their individual context.

For entry into this course students need:

Fulltime:  Weeks

This full qualification will be delivered in no less over 76 weeks via face to face learning OR up to 2 years via flexible learning or through RPL. Students who are working in the industry can take up to 2 years part time to complete.

Vocational Placement

Vocational placement is a crucial component of this course. Students will undertake a mandatory, 240 -350 hours of placement in an approved Childcare Setting.

 

 

 

 

Students are expected to have in place strategies to manage family and work commitments to meet vocational placement shifts. Students will continue to be assessed against prescribed units of

competency undertaken during their vocational placement. 

Qualification Structure

CHC50113 Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care requires the completion of 28 units of competence comprising of 23 core units and 5 elective units.

Delivery Strategy

The training program is conducted as institution-based learning or through RPL and integrated delivery may occur with some units. For each unit of competence, the participants are provided with a USB that contains all worksheets, handouts, additional reading materials and the assessment tasks. The Karen Kearns text books are an additional charge.

Assessment may include the following methodologies or a combination:

Students will earn either a relevant Statement of Attainment or the qualification CHC50113 Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

 

Recognition of Prior Learning and credit transfer

Students can apply for recognition of previous study, work, life and educational experience that matches the units of competency or qualification being considered.

Further Study

After achieving the CHC50113 Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care some universities offer credit from the Diploma to enrol into Early Childhood Teaching qualifications. Another option is CHC60215 Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management is a great qualification for those aspiring to secure a management position in early childhood services.
